Now that was pretty good although I don't think it will quite translate as They "hate" dogs, pigs etc. The result of what the Koran and the Hadith say results in a significant aversion.

Hello again.

I am glad you are talking about this subject. It is kind of close to my heart as I am of Polish decent.

During this siege, the Austrian king asked the Polish king, Jan Sobieski, for help. Poland was one of, if not the strongest country in Europe at that time. Poles arrived with their heavy cavalry called HUSARIA. It is often compared to mechanized armored divisions in modern warfare. Both the horse and their rider were heavily protected by metal plates and armor. Despite the added weight, they were very fast on the battlefield due to a special apparatus- two curved prongs attached to the riders back. There were eagle feathers attached to the prongs. This device served a twofold purpose. First, it created a noise that spooked the horses and made them run faster. Second, the noise created an illusion of greater numbers of the advancing force. (It also looked very cool!!!) In addition, the riders carried longer than average spears for that time period.

Needless to say, they kicked some Muslim ass!!!

Unfortunately, not even a hundred years had passed when Austro-Hungarians, Germans, and Russians erased Poland from the map. This happened partially because of the utopian political system Poland adopted. It was “pure democracy”. Every senator (land owner at that time) could VETO any law which was proposed in the Senate. Because of local conflicts and corruption nothing was getting done!!! Shortly thereafter, Poland was conquered by the prior mentioned countries.

These days the world only seems to remember the overrun of Poland. Your story reminds me of the Winter War in Finland when Finland held off the much more massive Soviet Army. No one seems to talk about that either.
